Novak Djokovic surprised his wife Jelena with a custom drone light show for her 40th birthday before heading to London for Wimbledon 2026.
What happened?
Novak Djokovic took down China's Wu Ybing in the opening round 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 on July 3.
He then dominated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round, winning 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in just one hour and 38 minutes.
Why it matters for Novak Djokovic
Djokovic has the support of his wife Jelena and their two kids, Tara and Stefan, as he competes at the England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
The 39-year-old superstar told the crowd after his first-round win, “Having my family is a blessing for me here, to be supporting me this late — even though it’s past bedtime and we’ll have to talk about that.
What comes next?
Novak Djokovic will face Arthur Rinderkench in the third round of Wimbledon 2026.
Djokovic posted a video of the birthday celebration on Instagram and wrote, “40 love. Srećan rodjendan @jelenadjokovicndf ❤️,” which translates to Happy Birthday in Serbian.
Jelena shared a grateful message on her Instagram page, thanking everyone for the wonderful messages and wishes.
During an appearance on the Jay Shetty Podcast ahead of the 2025 U.S. Open, Djokovic described Jelena as his ‘rock’, saying she has seen the worst and the best sides of him.
He added that Jelena has challenged him on every level and they have grown together, with two beautiful children.
Djokovic said Jelena is probably the only one in his life who can tell him things he maybe doesn’t want to hear, and that she has been an incredible partner in his journey, professionally and privately.
The tennis star credits Jelena's support for his ability to still play at a high level, reminding himself of that often.
